Huckleberry Trail

5.7 mi.

The Huckleberry Trail is a 5.7 mile paved path that cuts through Blacksburg and Christiansburg.   Throughout the trail there are five locations known as "pocket parks" which are small areas off the side of the trail where walkers can rest and get their bearings.  This trail is easily doable for any family, young or old, and any pets you may want to bring.  While there are no restroom facilities on the actual trail there are many businesses that walkers will pass that offer free restroom use.  The Huckleberry Trail is home to over twenty species of native wildflowers some of which are, Bouncing bet, Bittersweet nightshade, Chicory, and Spotted Touch-me-not.  At mile marker five there is an opportunity to pick wild blueberries known as huckleberries.  For hikers who want a longer workout there will soon be a connecting trail installed that will lead to the Jefferson National Forest, connecting the Huckleberry to Pandapas Pond.
